Officers deliver pizza order after arresting delivery driver by: Celeste Houmard

TEMPE, Ariz. — In an unusual twist over the Fourth of July weekend, Tempe Police officers found themselves stepping into the role of food delivery drivers after arresting a Grubhub worker during a routine traffic stop.

According to the Tempe Police Department, officers pulled over the Grubhub delivery driver for a traffic violation and later determined the driver needed to be taken into custody. Rather than leaving the customer’s meal undelivered, the officers decided to ensure the pizza still made it to its destination.

Bodycam footage released by the department captures the lighthearted moment when officers arrived at the delivery address, pizza in hand. The surprised customer opened the door only to be greeted by a police officer informing her that her delivery driver had been arrested. The customer laughed as the officer clarified, “Your Grubhub guy got arrested, but we didn’t want you to miss your pizza.”

Tempe Police shared the humorous incident on social media with the caption:

“The order was Hot-N-Ready, and the suspect was Caught-N-Steady.”

The department’s post quickly gained attention online, with many people applauding the officers for going the extra mile—literally—to deliver the pizza.

A Lighthearted Moment Amid Serious Work

While the situation involved an arrest, police emphasized that their priority was ensuring community service in every sense of the word. “We might wear a badge, but we’re here to serve the public in all ways, big and small—even if that means finishing someone’s pizza delivery.”

No details were shared publicly about the charges against the driver, but Tempe PD confirmed the customer received her food—still hot and on time.
